Two students from Dhaka, Bangladesh were recently awarded one of the highest scholarships given out to international students by a Canadian University. Saint Mary’s University is one of the oldest public universities in Canada and each year a handful of students get the privilege to receive awards that are declared by the president of the university. Presidential and Santamarian scholarships are given out to international and Canadian students.
This year, SK Mahmudur Rahman Shovon and Saidur Rahman Tipu from Dhaka secured these honours. Both students have finished their high school under the O/A level system and will be attending the university from September, 2015. The Presidential Scholarship is worth $36000 (CAD) and Santamarian is worth $20000 (CAD). It should be noted that the yearly tuition fee at Saint Mary’s is approximately $14,800 (CAD).
Saint Mary’s University is part of the Canadian University Application Centre (CUAC). The CUAC is a Canadian organisation with offices worldwide to help and assist students choosing higher education in Canada.
